What is 3M Thinsulate?
Thinsulate thermal insulation was first sold in 1987. It is a synthetic polyester fibre, used mainly for thermal insulation for footwear and clothing. The main difference between Thinsulate and traditional polyester insulation is that Thinsulate fibers are much thinner, so they create a dense mat, which reflects radiant heat and traps air to keep warm, but do not stops moisture transporting out.

Thinsulate keeps it's properties even with water, becouse isn't good water absorbent. Thinsulate is so effective becouse it is very efficient in trapping air, which is the main insulating factor. Thinsulate insulation can absorbs less than 1% of its weight in water, so it keeps feet warm even in damp conditions. Polyester fibers are also durable and easy for conservation.

Why should we choose products with Thinsulate?
First of all, this is the worls most famous thermal insulation (don't name it warming!), so you can trust in its quality.
3M's dedication is continous innovations, so product isn't the same like 25 years ago. It is still the warmest, thin, light insulation.

Hunting boots with Thinsulate
That popular insulation is also often used fot boots, what we are interested in - also for hunting boots. Hunting boots are not only very warm, but also still thin and light.
For footwear for cool conditions and high level od activity 200gr Thinsulate insulation should be enought. Thinsulate 400 gr is recommended for cold conditions and moderate activity level. 800 up to 1200 gram Thinsulate should be used for very cold or extremely cold conditions and very light activity level.
